Department Summary

The G. Brint Ryan College of Business is the choice of nearly 10,000 students, making it one of the largest business schools in the nation. Nationally recognized and cutting-edge degrees enable students to learn beyond the classroom, preparing them to become leaders in their field.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for advising student on degree/program requirements and course scheduling. Maintains and updates student status records, transcript evaluations, degree plan audits, and graduation applications. Responsible for taking a leadership role in training and mentoring other advisors, participating in outreach/recruitment activities, managing special projects and/or serving as a subject matter expert on specialized majors and determining how transfer credits apply toward degree requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong presentation skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively. Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to the functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Strong public speaking and communication skills.

Job Duties

  • Advise students individually and in group settings regarding degree requirements and University and College Policies. Make referrals to campus offices as necessary. 
  • Prepare and update degree audits: evaluating and applying transfer work in accordance with University and College policies. 
  • Process graduation packets and degree plans: as assigned to meet RCoB and University deadlines. 
  • Prepare and present Ryan College of Business degree information at new student orientations, major changer group session. 
  • Contribute to the overall organizational health and performance of the Ryan College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office through teamwork, knowledge sharing, professional development and professional relationship building. 
  • Demonstrate commitment and ability to support a diverse group of individuals within the academic community.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm, may include some evenings and weekends
