Department Summary
In the College of Public Health, the Office of Student and Academic Services provides centralized comprehensive services to all students and alumni. These services include guidance related to degree requirements and academic deadlines; assistance with course registration, transfer credit, and advanced standing; academic advising; scheduling and enrollment for the CPH examination; notification of school-wide information through the CPH FYI; professional and academic development workshops; student development activities; community service opportunities; and school-funded scholarship opportunities. The Office of Student and Academic Services also serves as a liaison between other campus offices to ensure students have a successful experience during their time at UNT Health.
Position Overview
The Academic Student Navigator is responsible for supporting students throughout their academic journey and assisting in the programs accreditation efforts. This position ensures the success and satisfaction of students by providing guidance, resources, and support services. The Academic Student Navigator collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the overall student experience and promote program excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated effectiveness in applying student leadership theory/practices.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in education, communication, public health, and 2 years of related experience.
- Previous experience in higher education.
- Detail and service oriented.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office Suite: primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Confident speaking before groups of students.

Job Duties
- Support students in identifying and pursuing academic and career goals in alignment with the programs accreditation standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records including career advising, professional development, and academic advising for CPH students.
- Prepare reports related to student progress as needed.
- Provide comprehensive curricular advising to students through assisting students in understanding and navigating the programs curriculum, policies, and procedures.
- Support new student orientation by facilitating sessions that provide essential information about program requirements, policies, and resources.
- Design and implement a formal mentorship program for CPH students.
- Plan and execute CPH course scheduling and room reservation process for each academic semester.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student profiles for CPH website.
- Coordinate and plan departmental alumni events for current CPH students.
- Complete faculty Interfolio reports for each academic semester.
- Manage CPH Scholarship Processing for incoming and returning students.
