The study of anthropology is the study of humanity, in all of its complexity, across space and time. Our department is one of the leading departments in the nation centered around the practice of applied cultural anthropology, or the application of anthropological methods, theories, and insights to address real world problems. A degree in Anthropology will provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the challenges and opportunities of living in an increasingly diverse and globalizing world.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of Anthropology seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Spring 2026. The specific courses involved may vary and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
The anticipated need may include, but is not limited to, a variety of undergraduate sociocultural courses, general anthropology, peoples and cultures courses, and advanced topics courses. Graduate courses may include, but are not limited to, courses in methods, theory and praxis, and topics courses.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 18 hours of Master's level coursework is required to teach undergraduate courses and a PhD in Anthropology or related field is required for teaching graduate courses.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's level coursework in any applied anthropology field. Experience teaching college level courses; familiarity with Canvas/similar system; excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with staff and students.
