Department Summary

This position impacts the entire undergraduate population and is not affiliated with a single department. The College of Music enrolls approximately 1,500 music majors, with two-thirds being undergraduate students.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The position will involve teaching MUGC 4890, Studies in Music, which is a new course designed for Pre-Music students. Pre-Music students have not been admitted as a music major. The expectation is to provide the students in this course information about becoming a music major and options for alternative majors at UNT.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Music.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate preferred; experience teaching at the college level; an understanding of working with FTIC students who are exploring potential majors.
