Department Summary

The Counseling Program at UNT Dallas prepares a multi-culturally competent counselor and a change agent who promotes wellness in children, adults, families, schools, and communities locally and worldwide. The Program offers two CACREP-accredited master’s programs: school counseling and mental health counseling. Mentored by dedicated faculty with extensive experience as licensed practitioners and in research, our students undergo authentic experiential and evidence-based training. Graduates of the UNTD Counseling program are dedicated leaders and advocates for diversity in the communities they serve.

Position Overview

Qualified individuals are being sought to establish a pool of readily available talented persons from which these vacancies are filled as they occur. The adjunct instructor is responsible for teaching masters-level counseling graduate courses face to face, in hybrid and online formats using Canvas. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching and student success.

POSITIONS:
UNT Dallas is hiring for a variety of Counseling and School classes as we begin to further grow our programs, which may include the following positions to begin, Fall 2024 semester.

  • Group Counseling
  • Family Counseling Substance Abuse Treatment
  • Professional School Counseling Practicum in School Counseling Career Counseling

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education or a closely related field from a CACREP University
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor with two years of experience or other closely related licensure in a counseling field
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in online/hybrid instruction
  • Proven teaching excellence in graduate instruction or professional development training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • For School Counseling Classes:
  • A Texas Certified School Counseling
  • 3 years of school counseling experience
  • School Counseling Supervision experience
  • Knowledge and experience with TEA
  • Membership in State and National School Counseling Organizations
  • For Clinical Mental Health Classes:
  • Experience in Group Counseling and Family Systems
  • A strong teaching background with diverse populations
  • Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty.
  • Knowledge of CACREP
  • Membership in State and National professional organizations
  • Bilingual skills is a plus.
