It focuses on the preparation of EC-6 secondary educators and school administrators who employ current theory and research.
Position Overview
The Teacher Education and Administration Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Administrative Specialist to join our team. The main focus of this position is course scheduling and all responsibilities associated with ensuring courses are scheduled accurately, timely and enrollment numbers in each course maximize the resources of the department. Additional responsibilities as listed in job duties. The employee in this position must adhere to departmental policy and guidelines put in place to ensure confidentiality and that data, records, equipment, and keys are secure.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional customer service skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple assignments effectively. Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Direct experience with course scheduling. Experience working within an academic department prior administrative support experience in an academic area Exceptional Microsoft office skills ability to problem solve and troubleshoot data analysis experience excellent communication skills Enterprise Information System PeopleSoft, Faculty Information System, CourseLeaf and Curriculog
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Responsible for course scheduling, edits, and instructor assignments, as directed by the department Chair or direct supervisor. Works closely with Office of Registrar, CLEAR, Office of Educator Prep, Student Academic Advising, and Frisco to accomplish scheduling and course creation/edit responsibilities, meeting all university deadlines.
- Additional tasks as needed/required.Assists with special projects.
Physical Requirements

Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
