Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Research Educational Programs leads the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive education, training, and professional development initiatives across all aspects of Sponsored Programs, including pre-award, post-award, research accounting, financial compliance, and research contracts. This position directs the planning, development, facilitation, and evaluation of programs for staff, faculty, and trainees, ensuring alignment with institutional learning objectives, sponsor requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices. At the assistant director level, the role provides strategic leadership in workforce development and training initiatives to strengthen staff expertise, operational effectiveness, and compliance across the research enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of IPEC competencies for Interprofessional collaboration.
- Knowledge of Health professions curriculum.
- Knowledge of IPE assessment methods.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Strong ability to collaborate and foster collaboration across healthcare professions.
- Ability to work with students, faculty, and clinicians.
- Excellent presentation skills both visual and verbal.
- Proficient in design thinking and curriculum development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Learning Management Systems, Qualtrics or other survey instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Approximately 7-10 years of related experience.
- Prior experience efficiently training research administrators, colleagues, or students in a professional setting (one-on-one or in a group).
- Prior experience with federal and/or non-federal research funding regulations and policies, including pre- and post-award grant management required.
- Certified Research Administrator or related certification.
- Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
Job Duties
- Design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs, courses, workshops, and other learning initiatives for staff, faculty, and trainees.
- Ensure training content aligns with institutional learning objectives, sponsor requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices in Sponsored Programs administration.
- Collaborate with Sponsored Programs leadership, subject matter experts, and faculty to identify training needs and prioritize programs.
- Maintain and update training materials to reflect changes in policies, regulations, and sponsor guidelines.
- Track training participation and outcomes, using assessment data to improve program effectiveness.
- Support on-boarding and continuous learning initiatives to enhance staff readiness and productivity across Sponsored Programs functions.
