Department Summary
Counseling & Testing Services consists of two inter-related parts: The Counseling Center and Testing Services. We exist to serve the students and community of UNT in support of the mission of the University. Through our Counseling Center services, we strive to support the academic success and general well-being of UNT students through professional counseling, career counseling, consultation, mental-health screenings, educational programs and self-help resources as well as referral services. We offer to consult with Students, Parents, Faculty and Staff who may be concerned about a UNT student (while still respecting the confidentiality of our clients). With client permission, we often work closely with physicians and psychiatrists, the Career Center, Office of Disability Access, and many other helpful resources in order to provide the best overall care. Our Testing Services provides a wide range of services including traditional admissions testing, computer-based testing, career testing, and many other tests.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the group, outreach, and educational programming for Counseling and Testing Services. Work is performed independently within established office procedures and is subject to review by the Executive Director and Clinical Director. Provides supervision to 3-5 professional staff and trainees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related behavioral health field. Experience providing consultation and training. 1 -2 years’ experience providing clinical or administrative supervision
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of professional counseling practices, policies, and procedures.
* Strong oral and written communications skills.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: short term treatment orientation, Experience working in a College Counseling Setting, Experience using Titanium software, and administrative experience as a mental health professional. Experience coordinating and overseeing programs.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Full unrestricted license by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or equivalent. If licensed in another state, must be eligible to obtain Texas license within 12 months.
Job Duties:
- Group Counseling/Workshops: Receives and approves group and workshop proposals from CTS Staff. Coordinates and manages group and workshop schedule. Ensures that groups and workshops are marketed appropriately and manages group and workshop evaluations. Uses evaluations to determine effectiveness and inform decisions for future services.
- Outreach: Receives and manages outreach requests from campus partners, student organizations, academic departments, and other UNT community members. Manages evaluations and uses feedback to inform decisions about future programming.
- Supervision: Provides supervision to trainees and staff as assigned. Available for unscheduled/unofficial consultation as needed. Receptive to supervision and participates actively in personal supervision.
- Crisis Counseling: Available for crisis intervention as needed. Rotates after hours on-call along with other members of CTS leadership team. Available as a director for back up on assigned day to provide support for clinicians with assigned crisis hours.
- Individual Counseling: Maintains a clinical caseload ranging from 10-15 clients per week. Case load increases during high volume times as available.
- Intake/ICON: Conducts Initial Consultations as assigned during high volume times.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Flexible schedules may be approved.
