Department Summary
The University of North Texas (UNT) Student Health and Wellness Center is a full-service medical center offering all UNT students general wellness and specialty medical care. We are staffed with licensed physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified lab technologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed nurses, and medical assistants.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing patient care in the Student Health and Wellness Center. Care, treatment, and general health services are provided primarily to students with some exceptions.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED equivalent, and one year of related experience. Substitution of education for experience allowed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of pharmacy and/or medical technology and practices as necessary. Ability to perform duties while standing or walking for long period of time. Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
Required License/Registration/Certifications
MA/CMA Certification is required
CPR Certification
Job Duties
- Presents a professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external customers. Follows appropriate chain of command.
- Participates in all mandatory SHWC trainings and meetings, including committees, as assigned. Practices and follows proper privacy and security regulations.
- Participates/volunteers with SHWC events, including internal events, orientations, etc.
- Charts, codes, and charges all patient encounters according to current coding guidelines.
- Assists medical providers in evaluating and treating patients.
- Performs scheduled checks of assigned work areas and turns in appropriate signed form indicating completion.
- Other duties as assigned.
