Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for Adjunct Instructor openings for the academic year 2024-25. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching. UNT Dallas offers faculty the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban comprehensive university.
The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment, division needs, and dean approval. Your application cannot be considered until all required documents have been received. Please note that adjunct faculty are limited to teaching two courses per semester.
Adjunct faculty plans classes and implements and evaluates teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertakes the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide quality instruction in undergraduate Communication & Digital Media courses matching the instructor’s background, education, and skills base. These offerings include courses in digital photography, visual communication, digital field production, events, communication literacy, sports communication, sports writing, social media, studio production, public relations and advertising (writing, strategy, case studies, and campaigns), and cinematography, among others.
Adjunct faculty members may be required to use certain texts and meet certain parameters set by the Department of Communications and Digital Media. Adjunct instructors will also be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Film Production, Script Writing, or other related discipline and outstanding experience or potential for excellence in teaching Communication-related courses.

Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or MFA in Communication or related field, with significant experience in applied or professional communication
- Significant experience in college instruction.
- Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
- Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.
- Familiarity with online modes of delivery.
