The University of North Texas is launching a new department that places learning and innovation at the center of its student success mission. Position Overview
This position is responsible for writing, editing, and disseminating informative and creative content for “LEAF: Learning Ecosystem for Adaptive Futures” that serves as the coordinating structure for three new academic units at UNT. The position will report to the Deputy to the President for University Initiatives and will work closely with the multiple co-directors of the three units to create a clear and consistent communications strategy and write compelling evidence-based stories about the work of LEAF that can reach a range of audiences.
Representative Tasks:
• Create a proactive communications strategy that conveys the mission, initiatives, and work output to a range of audiences: students and families, UNT faculty and staff, local industry, philanthropic opportunities.
• Conceive and write stories about the work being undertaken in LEAF and the impact that it has on the learning and student success efforts at UNT.
• Joins various meetings and conducts interviews to gather information for storytelling purposes.
• Works closely with data analysts to include evidence-based arguments in writing.
• Collaborates with others to create written, visual, video, and graphic content for both print and digital publications.
• Develop and maintain web content, and explore and implement other online opportunities to expand and promote communication streams, including, but not limited to, a social media presence across relevant platforms.
• Work closely with grant writers to provide background information as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Keen attention to detail.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to capture and adapt voice and tone.
• Ability to review and edit other writers’ communications for accuracy, clarity, accessibility, and tone.
• Comfortable communicating in different genres to a range of audiences.
• Strong people skills and demonstrated success working collaboratively.

Job Duties:
- Strategic Communications Planning - Create and implement proactive communications strategy that conveys mission, initiatives, and work output to diverse audiences including students, families, UNT community, industry, and philanthropic organizations
- Content Creation and Storytelling - Conceive and write compelling stories about LEAF's work and impact on learning and student success efforts, ensuring evidence-based narratives that resonate with target audiences
- Information Gathering and Research - Attend meetings and conduct interviews to gather information for storytelling purposes, working closely with data analysts to incorporate evidence-based arguments into communications
- Multi-Media Content Development - Collaborate with team members to create written, visual, video, and graphic content for both print and digital publications, ensuring consistent brand messaging
- Digital Communications Management - Develop and maintain web content, manage social media presence across relevant platforms, and explore new online opportunities to expand communication reach
- Grant Support Activities - Work closely with grant writers to provide background information and communications support as needed for funding opportunities
