Department Summary
The University of North Texas at Dallas launched the Center for Experiential Learning
and Career Success (CELCS) in 2025. The Center for Experiential Learning and
Career Success (CELCS) at UNT Dallas serves as a dynamic hub to prepare students
for meaningful careers and lives through hands-on learning and professional
development.
The CELCS works to serve this purpose by
• partnering with faculty as key stakeholders to co-design initiatives that integrate
academic rigor with career readiness
• helping students develop "power skills" and character to thrive in a global
workforce, connecting academic learning with real-world experience through
internships, service-learning, and study abroad programs,
• providing tools, resources, and guidance for career exploration, resume building,
interview preparation, and job placement,
• collaborating with employers and community organizations to create impactful
experiential learning opportunities,
• and providing resources and support to integrate experiential learning into
courses and student organizations.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree in a Higher Education, Human Resources, Business, Career Services; or related field and 5 years of professional related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate across departments.
- Proven ability in strategic planning, program development, and execution of initiatives that foster impactful employer engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences.
- Collaborative mindset with strong teambuilding and cross functional coordination abilities.
- Knowledge of regional labor market trends and experiential learning models.
- Experience working with universities or higher education settings.
- Ability to effectively market the university and its students to external employers and successfully convert prospective partners into active recruiters.
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Experience in program assessment, data analysis, and outcomes-based evaluation.
- Ability to represent the University at community meetings, boards and events.
- Ability to use generative AI tools to enhance efficiency and impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of career readiness frameworks (e.g., NACE competencies, AACSB standards).
- Experience with CRM systems, career platforms (e.g., Handshake), and data analytics tools.
- Experience working with first-generation, underrepresented, and non-traditional student populations
- Experience in regional workforce development, chambers of commerce, or economic development partnerships.
- Ability to translate labor market trends into actionable strategies for student engagement.

Job Duties
- Strategic Employer Engagement: Working with the leadership team, developing and maintaining relationships with employers to expand internship, experiential learning, and full-time employment opportunities for UNT Dallas students and alumni.
- Lead efforts to expand employer-connected learning opportunities, develop scalable strategic partnership programs, and align employer engagement strategies with university-wide goals.
- Marketing & Event Planning: Working with the leadership team, leading the planning and execution of employer-facing events including career fairs, networking receptions, employer panels, and on-campus recruitment activities. Working with the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, developing print and web-based materials for employers.
- Partnership Development: Collaborate with regional workforce and economic development organizations to align employer relations with labor market needs and institutional priorities. As part of the leadership team, develop and manage targeted employer outreach activities.
- Participate in Development/Alumni committee meetings to cultivate alumni involvement. Continuously identify new opportunities for employer collaboration based on labor market trends and student career interests targeting emerging industries within DFW and Texas Industry Sectors. Identify opportunities to grow external funds and create reports for leadership.
- Cross-Campus Collaboration: As part of the leadership team, work closely with faculty, academic departments, and student services to integrate employer engagement into curricular and co-curricular experiences.
- Foster strong working relationships with academic units to align employer engagement with college specific student needs. Ensure that partnerships and programs meet the evolving needs of students, industry, and higher education. Serve as a resource to faculty on emerging career trends and employer expectations, creating understanding and alignment with student curriculum.
- Data Management & Reporting: As part of the leadership team, track and analyze employer engagement metrics, student placement outcomes, and experiential learning participation to inform strategy and reporting. Manage the distribution, collection, analysis, and posting of employer-related data. Report on recruitment activities and trends. Lead continuous improvement efforts by analyzing data, gathering student and employer feedback, and monitoring employer engagement.
- Technology Oversight: As part of the leadership team, review employer-related functions within career services platforms (e.g., Handshake), ensuring accurate job postings, event listings, and employer profiles. Identify appropriate recruitment software for managing recruitment activities and related services.
- Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of employer programs and services.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all employer relations activities adhere to university policies and NACE standards, promoting ethical and inclusive recruitment practices.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to address unprofessional conduct by students during the recruitment process.
- Conduct benchmarking and best practice reviews to enhance employer engagement strategies and program.
