Department Summary
The UNT Career Center is responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Career Readiness, Coaching, and Education, Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students. The Career Center operates as a centralized department with a decentralized approach and sustains collaborative partnerships with academic colleges, student affairs departments, employers, and alumni. Our vision is to empower students and alumni to identify and achieve individual goals for career success. Our mission is to design and deliver high-quality career services to UNT students and alumni through collaboration with campus, local and global partnerships.
Position Overview
Expand employer relationships with UNT based on geographic region, major, employer type, etc. Expand opportunities for employers that wish to recruit from particular colleges. Employ strategies to market UNT and its students in order to increase employer interest and participation in recruiting activities on campus. Work collaboratively with the Associate Director and the Employer Services team to identify employer needs and recommend recruiting options, strategies, and sponsorship opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Recruiting and Human Resources experience preferred.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Expand employer outreach to companies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area via referral and by partnerships with local Chambers and relevant networking groups.
- Support Employer Services Team by recruiting employers for various Career Center hosted fairs and events.
- Help troubleshoot and manage employers and jobs in Handshake at the request of other team members.
- Report employer outreach and outcomes via statistical analysis to Associate Director and AVP when requested.
- Meet with departments and colleges to get feedback on the types of companies and organizations they want to have hire their students. Recruit accordingly based on their feedback.
- Exercises ability to collaborate with industry professionals on opportunities for international students post graduation.
- Help recruit Employer Advisory Board Members and assist with projects aimed at making them more present on campus.
- Ability to leverage employer, campus partner and alumni relationships to advance technology platforms such as PeopleGrove, Handshake, Interstride, and others.
- Assist Assistant Director of Internships and Internship Specialists with campus partnerships and employer internship outcomes.
- Work collaboratively on Career Center endeavors when requested. Serve as an effective liaison for Career Coaching teams in designated colleges to increase awareness of services.
