Department Summary
The Enterprise Applications division of System IT is committed to helping the UNT System campuses accomplish their mission and strategic goals by working in a partnership with customers, understanding their needs, and striving for excellence in the technology solutions we offer. Enterprise Applications provides application development, administration, security, and support for the UNT System's enterprise deployments of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, HR/Payroll, Financials, Constituent Relationship Management, and Student Application Portals. Business analysis services are also an integral part of this PeopleSoft offering known across the System's campuses as EIS (Enterprise Information System).
Position Overview
The PeopleSoft Security Lead (Non‑Supervisory) owns application security across the UNT System’s EIS footprint—PeopleSoft HCM, Financials (FIN), and Campus Solutions (CS). The role designs, configures, and continuously improves roles, permission lists, and row‑level/operational security to enable least‑privileged access at scale. It partners closely with developers, functional leaders, and Access Control Executives (ACEs) to advance RBAC and meet audit/regulatory expectations. The position provides day‑to‑day technical leadership to a three‑person supporting team, embeds security in the SDLC, and routinely supports audits and monitoring via tools like Appsian and SIEM.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and six (6) years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Expertise in PeopleSoft security across HCM, Financials, and Campus Solutions, including roles, permission lists, row‑level security, key security tables, and PeopleTools administrative boundaries.
• Strong understanding of RBAC, Segregation of Duties (SoD), and business‑owned access governance models such as ACE/ACES.
• Ability to design and maintain scalable security architectures, including role families, task‑based bundles, naming standards, and SoD‑aware configurations.
• Strong SQL and PS Query skills with deep familiarity of core PeopleSoft security tables.
• Ability to collaborate throughout the SDLC, embedding security into Fit/Gap analysis, retrofits, testing, and production migrations.
• Ability to operationalize and demonstrate compliance controls aligned with applicable standards and organizational security frameworks.
• Skill in using and tuning Appsian monitoring and SIEM integrations for high‑risk activity detection and response.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex access issues and drive continuous improvement through refactoring and workflow automation.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, partnering effectively with developers, functional analysts, Information Security, Internal Audit, and ACEs.
• Ability to provide day‑to‑day technical leadership, including planning, standards enforcement, configuration reviews, and mentoring within a matrixed team.
• Working knowledge of identity ecosystem components such as LDAP, Active Directory, Azure AD, MFA, and identity lifecycle integrations with PeopleSoft.
• Understanding of higher‑education HR/Payroll, finance, and student processes relevant to PeopleSoft security design.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Appsian and event forwarding to enterprise SIEM; familiarity with log review workflows and alert tuning.
• Working knowledge of LDAP/Active Directory/Azure AD, MFA concepts, and identity lifecycle touchpoints with PeopleSoft.
• Background in higher education processes (student, HR/Payroll, finance) and EIS governance within the UNT System context.
• Awareness of compliance frameworks and state standards relevant to Texas public institutions (e.g., TAC 1 §202.76, ISO/IEC 27002) and their application-to-application security.
