Position Overview
The Financial Aid Scholarships (FAS) department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Administrator to join our Eligibility Team. This position supports an Assistant Director in the coordination and day to day operations of multiple financial aid processes and provides expertise within the team's areas of specialization.
Areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, eligibility and verification, professional judgement, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). The ideal candidate will be flexible in task assignments, highly organized, and be able to manage multiple tasks in the absence of day-to-day guidance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's in related field, 3 years in student services or related roles. Equivalent education, training, experience accepted. Must maintain good standing on federal student loans, grant NSLDS access for hire & continued employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in the operation of personal computers, Microsoft Office, and be able to learn new software programs rapidly.
- In depth knowledge of financial aid processes, policies and procedures or ability to quickly assimilate.
- Ability to problem solve, multitask and organize in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate. Develops and maintains effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a financial aid office and a desire to contribute to a team.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills demonstrating attention to detail, integrity, and responsibility.
- Proven ability working under pressure with minimal supervision to simultaneously execute multiple projects with accuracy.
- Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills and presentation involvement.
- Able to engage and communicate enthusiastically to diverse populations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Obtain clearance to NSLDS within 30 days of hire.
Job Duties:
- Analyzes and processes financial aid applications to determine aid eligibility according to federal, state and institutional regulations, policies and procedures. Resolves customer service inquiries related to aid processing.
- Serves as a point of contact for staff to assist with timely resolution of customer service inquiries.
- Maintains and applies knowledge of FAS Policy Manual and procedures and remains current on information that impacts student eligibility and financial aid processes. Proposes changes to policy and/or procedures, when needed, based on changes to regulations and programs.
- Responsible for communication with internal and external customers in the resolution of complex issues, educating on relevant policies and regulations, and following up as appropriate.
- Develop and provide training related to processes within areas of specialization.
- Participates in outreach initiatives that promote awareness of financial assistance. Prepares and conducts presentations.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 - 5:00pm, with occasional nights/weekends.
