Department Summary

The Mail & Receiving Department at University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) is responsible for the efficient and secure handling, distribution, and delivery of all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and freight for all Campus locations. This includes sorting and processing both campus mail and external deliveries, ensuring that all items are routed to the appropriate departments, faculty and staff in a timely manner.

Position Overview

The Mail & Receiving Clerk will oversee the receipt of all shipments, collection of mail, and distribution of both mail and packages across the campus. They will ensure that outgoing mail adheres to correct postage requirements, and that internal mail is promptly delivered. Additionally, they will accurately document all incoming shipments before distribution.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to use office equipment, including related university software and email, to work successfully as a team member and independently with moderate supervision.
Ability to lift, push, and pull over 50 pounds repeatedly, in all weather conditions.
Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment. Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to learn a delivery/pick-up route. Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed, knowledge of the daily operation of the Stores/Warehouse.
Ability to receive PO's accurately inside of ePro and Peoplesoft.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in handling Pitney Bowes SendSuite, postage machine, and/or Mail-related equipment.
Experience in PeopleSoft and ePro
Working knowledge of postal practices, methods, and regulations.
Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Driver's license is required

Job Duties:

  • Organize incoming packages and mail for distribution on campus. Utilize Pitney Bows Sendsuite cloud software to create receipt labels and generate recipient labels for all incoming packages. 
  • Utilize university vehicles to deliver all packages on and off Campus ensuring that all mail and packages are delivered to the correct building and recipient. 
  • Pick up mail from USPS utilizing a University vehicle.
  • Verify that items are addressed properly with proper charge numbers. Affix postage to packages or letters using postage meters.
  • Weigh packages or letters to determine postage needed, using weighing scales and rate charts.
  • Utilize EIS and ePro to complete PO Receipts for all incoming PO's. 
  • Correct and reforward misdirected mail 
  • Keeping records of sent and received mail 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
