Position Overview
The Facilities Department at UNT Health is seeking to hire a Maintenance Technician to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Move office furniture, lab equipment, surplus or supplies to locations on or off campus. Perform setups and teardowns for special events by arranging tables, chairs, canopies, stages and pipe drape to customer specifications. Driving a 15 passenger shuttle bus to transport passengers, while displaying a high level of professionalism. Use a computer to communicate, open and close work orders, training and accessing other resources. Identify and properly use hand tools, measuring tools and some power tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Six months of work-related experience.
- Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the profession.
- Skill in determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Certification in modular furniture preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Physical demands include stooping, reaching, holding, pushing/pulling and kneeling.
- Ability to lift, transport and carry furniture.
- Willing to use two-way radios to communicate.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Experience moving heavy equipment a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Valid Texas Drivers License
Job Duties
- Organize and perform daily furniture/and equipment moves.
- Coordinate and implement event set ups based off customers requests.
- Assist senior maintenance technicians when needed.
- Use work order system to organize daily tasks.
- Deliver all large items from receiving dock.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
Environmental Hazards
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts or vibration.
Work Schedule
Normal hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Some work outside of those hours may be necessary, including some weekend work.
