Department Summary
The UNT Dallas Parking and Transportation Services office is here to provide our campus communities with safe and efficient parking while on campus. We strive for excellent customer service while enforcing our university policies and guidelines. Our team is dedicated to assisting faculty, staff and students through special events, permit management and transportation resources.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing support and customer oriented services to Parking and Transportation Services. This position performs a variety of administrative support tasks that are non-routine and non-repetitive in nature, and require the use of independent judgment and initiative. Work includes public contact in interpreting Parking operational use guidelines, and rendering administrative decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, with assignments typically reflecting continuing responsibility for designated activities.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and prior experience in a public service, security, law enforcement, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with standard office procedures and administrative practices.
- Proven ability to understand and accurately follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from various educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
- Quick to learn new tasks, capable of following established procedures, and able to operate common office equipment with growing proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
High School or GED equivalent and four years of progressively responsible office administration, bookkeeping or clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Thorough knowledge of University general office procedures and practices.
· Thorough knowledge of University policies including FERPA and procedures related to the area of assignment.
· Knowledge of parking and traffic control practices, methods and procedures.
· Knowledge of campus parking lots/areas, building locations, Administrative offices, and general campus layout.
· General knowledge of bookkeeping theory, principles and practices.
· Ability to accurately record large volumes of data in Microsoft Excel and other data systems.
· Knowledge of campus parking and traffic rules/regulations and appropriate citation categories.
· Skill in making mathematical calculations and computations.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- May assist in supervision of Parking and Transportation Services office in times of high volume activity or as requested.
- Assist with daily collection and deposit of monies.
- Operate motor vehicles, radio transmitters, receivers, and/or other tools and equipment as required.
- Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of office supplies and prepares purchase orders and approves invoices for equipment and supplies; and coordinates receipt of shipping, inventory management, asset tagging, and asset management roles.
- Handles a variety of logistics including room scheduling, special events, and timely delivery of materials to stakeholders.
- Serves as receptionist; greets public; answers telephone; takes messages; answers inquiries and furnishes information.
- Participates in all campus enforcement of all Transportation Services and Policies for daily and event parking.
- Assists with receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Elevated temperatures.
- Noisy environments.
