Position Overview
The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is seeking to hire a plumbing foreman to join our team. This position is responsible for supervising or performing the installation ,maintenance, and repair of all plumbing systems: including deionized water, reverse osmosis water, lab waste, natural gas, vacuum, domestic water, storm drain, and sanitary sewer systems in accordance with plumbing code and laws observed by Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Facilities Management Services is dedicated to providing services to the Health Science Center by maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning, teaching, and research.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Commercial construction and repair, drain cleaning, soldering and brazing, material takeoffs, isometric drawings, medical gas knowledge, backflow prevention and testing knowledge, and various system testing procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
BPAT License
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Texas Master or Journeyman Plumbing License (with appropriate experience).
Job Duties:
- Material procurement/expense reports.
- New construction plumbing projects.
- Routine, investigative, and emergency service calls.
- Retrofit plumbing projects.
- Oversee outside contractors in scope and installation of plumbing projects.
- Blueprint/specification reviews.
- Adheres to work rules and policies and maintains records.
- Job estimates.
- Assigns and supervises the activities of plumbers.
- Assists in layout, fabrication, and assembly of plumbing work as required.
- Be available for after hours emergency.
- Coordinate with other trades during construction or repair projects.
Physical Requirements:
· Communicating with others to exchange information.
· Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
· Lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds or more.
· Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
· Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
· Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
· Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
· Lifting and Moving objects up to 50 pounds.
· Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
· Operating machinery and/or power tools.
· Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Environmental Hazards:
· No adverse environmental conditions expected.
· Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
· Low temperatures.
· Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
· Work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
· Elevated temperatures.
· Exposure to moving mechanical parts or vibration.
· Noisy environments.
· Small and/or enclosed spaces.
