The Office of Sponsored Programs, a department under the Division of Research and Innovation at UNTHSC, provides pre-award, post-award, and contract services to support faculty and other investigators while promoting compliance with federal and state agencies, private sponsor agreements, and UNTHSC research policies.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Project Support Specialist to join our team. This position provides direct professional support and guidance in the administration of grants, contracts and related funds to faculty and staff in an assigned portfolio of departments. This position provides high levels of client satisfaction through strong relationship management efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to effectively manage time.
- Ability to interpret, understand, and discuss financial reports.
- Up to date knowledge of applicable law, and federal and state guidelines, including but not limited to FARS, DFARS, 2 CRF 200, and Uniform Grant Management Standards.
- Clearly and candidly expresses self in a professional manner.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships and provide high levels of customer service.
- Actively listens and seeks input to ensure understanding.
- Ability to mentor and train lower-level staff.

Job Duties:
- Assist Principal Investigators and department staff in the management of sponsored projects, including but not limited to regular account review, expenditure planning, time and effort planning, interpretation of sponsor terms and conditions, and University policies and procedures.
- Ensure that award oversight meets sponsor terms and conditions, and University, Federal and State statutes, policies, and regulations governing sponsored research.
- Review sponsored project expenditures for the cost allowability, administrative reasonableness, appropriate award allocability and funding availability.
- Resolve discrepancies within the institution regarding awards, budgets, invoices, etc. in coordination with various central offices.
- Guide faculty and staff through changes in sponsor requirements. Ensure all required information is entered into the appropriate data systems.
- Lead project close out processes (e.g., clear encumbrances, close POs, closeout subawards, etc.).
- Cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships with faculty, OSP, and other key partners.
- Assist with policies and procedures and assist with audits.
- Develop and present workshops on various sponsored project management topics.

Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
