Department Summary
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.
Position Overview
The position will participate in the administration and monitoring of all ITR clinical research studies, projects and/or clinical trials. They will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating clinical data gathered during research. They will also ensure compliance with protocol and overall clinical objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of scientific research techniques, methods and procedures
- Ability to work effectively with fellow researchers, staff members, faculty, supervisors and students
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Academic writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
Job Duties
- To be added by department.
- Conduct face to face and/or telephone interviews with participants, in accordance with predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures and documentation standards.
- Participate in community recruitment of research participants and screening into studies and projects.
- Conduct neuropsychological testing with participants in studies and projects.
- Coordinating data entry, merging files, completing quality control checks, QC files and data collected.
- Scoring of interview, completing and conducting research protocols and statistical analysis.
- Administering functional research exams for participants in studies and projects
- Administrative tasks such as copying, preparing research materials, filing as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary and any other duties as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
