Department Summary
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.
Position Overview
This position will support all of the ITR studies and projects, staff , ITR participants and ITR Imaging Center. This position will assist with participant operation during the ITR studies for department and research administrative, scheduling duties and act as team lead.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of scientific research techniques, methods and procedures
- Ability to work effectively with fellow researchers, staff members, faculty, supervisors and students
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Academic writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
Job Duties
- Scheduling of participants into various research studies and clinical trials.
- Greet visitors and callers and directing them to the appropriate persons according to their needs .
- Preparing and maintaining reports of participant throughput.
- Managing New/canceling/pending appointments.
- Pay participants for their participation in the study and monitor and maintain payment logs.
- % - Maintain participant tracking and reporting system for no shows, ratio, and source of call/referral.
- Interview, Neuropsychological Testing, Blood draw, MRI, Medical Exam for each participant.
- Coordinate with imaging center to ensure consistency between different scheduling systems (Ramsoft and internal Scheduling)
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
