Department Summary

The Department of Counseling and Higher Education is one of four departments in the University of North Texas College of Education. The department houses two academic programs: Counselor Education and Higher Education. We promote human development through education, research, and service that advance the professions of, and scholarship in, counseling and higher education. We seek local, state, regional, national, and international prominence as a collaborative and trans formative community engaged in exemplary research, education, and service that benefit the professions of counseling and higher education, the public’s they serve, and humanity at large.

Position Overview

The Counseling & Higher Education Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Internship Field Supervisor to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and meet with School Counseling Internship, master’s level students.
  • Coordinate and meet with site supervisors' multiple times each semester; and
  • Evaluate and report student progress with university supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in counseling. Credentials as a school counselor in Texas.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively supervise school counselor trainees and provide feedback.
  • Knowledge about ASCA National Model, school counseling practices, child development and mental health, and school cultures.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or enrolled in CACREP Accredited Doctoral Counseling Program

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Credential as a school counselor in Texas.
