Teach North Texas is UNT's innovative math and science secondary level teacher preparation program. Modeled after the very successful UTeach program at the University of Texas in Austin, TNT's goal is to address the critical shortage of qualified teachers within these high-needs fields. Students gain hands-on teaching experience while learning effective classroom teaching techniques.
Position Overview
This position serves to Assist the CoDirectors in the coordination of the SEED grant project, assisting with the field placement program, and assisting with daily office duties. This includes, but is not limited to, marketing, recruitment, working with area districts, as well as daily scheduling activities and maintain the field course teach and practice teach calendars and communicating and coordinating appointments / assignments with faculty, staff, and CoDirectors.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional customer service skills. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function. Supervisory skills.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Bachelors degree and 2 years of related work experience.
Job Duties
- Work with CoDirector in the implementation of the SEED grant project. Including, but not limited to, marketing, recruitment, and other duties as assigned.
- Manage the calendar used to schedule and plan site visits for field experience courses and practice teaches, communicate with faculty, staff, and students as is necessary.
- Assist student advisor in the recruiting of students by attending recruiting events and assist in the development of recruiting advertising materials. Assisting with social media and in the implementation, design, and coordination of print and other media advertising.
- Assist with mentor match event on 1 Saturday per long semester. This includes significant preparation in assisting with the matching of students with field placements, student schedule data collection and working to assist field coordinator with all aspects of event and the processing of background checks after the event.
- Assist with the supervision of student assistants and assist Admin Coordinator in general office management. Serve as primary office contact in their absence.
- Assist field coordinator with district communication and coordination of field activities. This includes contacting districts, coordinating site visits, mailings, and other related duties.
- Serve as primary front desk reception, answer phones, and direct visitors as is necessary, monitor mail pickup, TNT Print server, maintain time sheet, adhere to all UNT policies, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist senior office staff with the organization, processing, and communication of the TNT scholarship program.
