Department Summary
The School of Business at the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning Fall 2026. We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, and who are enthusiastic about contributing to a growing and dynamic academic environment. The UNT Dallas School of Business recently became a member of AACSB.
Position Overview
Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires a demonstrated record of scholarly, peer-reviewed publications and academic experience commensurate with the rank at an AACSB-accredited institution. Tenure is not granted at appointment and must be earned through the university’s formal tenure review process.
This is a full-time, 9-month faculty appointment. The standard teaching load is 4 courses per semester (4/4). Faculty are expected to maintain regular on-campus presence at least two days per week for office hours, meetings, and engagement activities.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications, aligned with peer institutions in the region.
Minimum Qualifications
• Doctoral degree in Accounting or Business with a concentration in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is expected within one year of hire and the candidate is able to teach and meet all on-campus obligations.
• Evidence of scholarly potential or record of recent peer-reviewed publications
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, supported by course evaluations, awards, or peer review
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE, or equivalent)
• Experience with online and/or hybrid teaching formats
• Evidence of ability to contribute to the positive culture of our school, university, and community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities
• Maintain an active and productive research agenda in accounting or a related field
• Engage in university, professional, and community service
• Support student success and career development initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
• Relevant industry or professional experience in accounting or related field
• Experience teaching upper-division and/or graduate-level courses in Financial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Taxation
• Commitment to student engagement and support positive student career outcomes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure in Texas preferred (or eligibility and willingness to obtain Texas licensure)
