Position Overview

The Department of Public Leadership and Administration at the University of North Texas at Dallas applications for a Visiting Assistant Professors position specializing in Public Administration and/or Public Affairs. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position for the 2025/2026 – Fall/Spring semester. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy (ABD/Master’s candidates will not be considered.)
  • 2-5 years of teaching experience at the university level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Public Policy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-impact teaching experiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of thinkers and learners.
  • Ability to teach on campus at UNT Dallas.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated expertise in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Public Policy.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to deliver high-impact teaching experiences.
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of thinkers and learners.
• Ability to teach on campus at UNT Dallas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats.
• Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of Public Administration.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy (ABD/Masters candidates will not be considered.)

Job Duties:

  • Teach graduate courses in Public Leadership & Administration.
  • Develop and deliver high impact and engaging course content.
  • Foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment for an urban student body.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department's academic offerings.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

Environmental Hazards:

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
