Position Overview

The Department of Political Science at the University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position specializing in American and Texas Politics. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position for the 2025/2026 – Fall/Spring semester (with potential for extension). Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field (ABD/Master's candidates with relevant experience may be considered).
• 3-5 years of teaching experience at the community college or university level, with a proven track record of engaging and inspiring students from all backgrounds.
• Expertise in American Politics with a commitment to promoting a curiosity-driven approach to teaching.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create connections and build relationships within and outside the classroom.
• Proven ability to empower students and promote high-impact teaching practices that support learning and growth.
• A commitment to fostering an environment of respect and belonging for all students. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Key Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate courses in American Politics, encouraging active learning and critical thinking.
• Develop and deliver dynamic, inclusive, and engaging course content that resonates with our student body.
• Foster a supportive and collaborative classroom environment where all students feel valued and empowered to succeed.
• Collaborate with faculty to continuously enhance the department’s offerings and ensure the curriculum reflects various perspectives.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the growth and development of the academic community at UNT Dallas.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats.
• Evidence of scholarly activity in American Politics.
• Experience working with first-generation and non-traditional students, championing a people-first approach.
