Department Summary
The Department of Clinical Education within the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine coordinates all clinical education experiences for osteopathic medicine students. This includes assigned clerkships in various specialties (family medicine, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, OB/GYN, emergency medicine, psychiatry, etc.) during the clinical years of the DO program.
Position Overview
The Department of Clinical Education within the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine coordinates all clinical education experiences for osteopathic medicine students. The department at UNT Health is seeking to hire an Academic Program Specialist to support the Osteopathic Clinical Education team. The team member will perform specified administrative coordination and provide specialized program support to the Osteopathic Clinical Education Department ensuring that the day-to-day administrative functions are performed. This position is critical to the overall success in the program. Serves as point of contact to hospital/clinic partners, students, prospective students, and faculty on matters related to course management, enrollment, program requirements, policies and procedures, and other administrative matters.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience working in an administrative capacity within higher education and/or in a healthcare setting utilizing high functioning/problem-solving skills.
Job Duties
- Proactive and consistent communications with students and hospitals for the rotations.
- Preparing and maintaining online curriculum platform.
- Assist with clerkship data. Coordinate orientations, services, access.
- Assign each student to a clinical location for training and communicate schedule to students and faculty.
- Proactive communication with faculty regarding training of students and number of student positions available at each site
- Input, process, and maintain student records of rotations per guidelines and any needed changes.
- Advise students regarding processes and procedures for completing clinical clerkships.
- Coordinate all core 3rd year rotations and 4th year electives for departments; make changes to rotation schedule.
- Compile, track and submit all grades received via the appropriate systems (Canvas, eMedley, EIS, etc.).
- Provide technical support for faculty and students for the online systems/platforms; make changes to Roster, Canvas, iClicker and all related documents as information is provided from Registrar/Clinical Education; maintain updated syllabi, evaluations, and program policy and procedures – distribute syllabi, course materials and lectures to Clinical Education for posting.
- Department contact for offsite preceptors in DFW and all remote sites, track vacations and coordinating alternative locations for students assigned.
- Attend meetings, trainings and events for clinical rotation directors and coordinators.
- Participate in committees as assigned; maintain records and process affiliation agreements for rotations.
- Processes, renews and maintains all adjunct faculty appointments for rotations.
- Maintains preceptor data in eMedley and runs reports for core and elective rotations as needed.
- Communicates effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
