Department Summary

The Department of Communication Studies cultivates communication scholarship and practice from various perspectives to foster creative, self-reflexive, and engaged leaders in their personal, professional, and civic lives. We study human communication. Our students master communication skills, research communication theories, and prepare for a variety of different careers.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs. Adjunct Assistants are not expected to create course syllabi or assignments. Adjunct Assistants work under the leadership of another instructor, leading recitations, assessing student performance and offering timely student feedback as needed.

Teaching assignments may be located at UNT's campus in Denton or the UNT Frisco campus. The teaching location will be determined in consultation with the department prior to assignment and based on instructional needs.

Minimum Qualifications

MA or MS in Communication Studies or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience in Communication Studies or closely related field. Terminal degree in discipline is preferred.

The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, in conjunction with the North Texas Regional Institutional Review Board (NTR IRB), is seeking to hire an IRB Compliance Manager to join our team. The Music Student Success Librarian provides strategic leadership for information literacy initiatives supporting one of the nation's largest collegiate music programs. The position establishes priorities for music library instruction to promote student success by ensuring that instructional programs, services, and learning outcomes align with user needs, curricular goals, and evolving best practices in information literacy and teaching and learning.

Student Services Coordinator

For this position, the Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator (Career Advisor) to join the College of Science team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students, by working with students, faculty and staff in the College of Science. Individual advising and group workshops. Partnering with academic advisors and counselors in the college to support internship goals for their assigned department, working with the Career Center internship specialist to assist with ensuring that available internships meet all departmental requirements for credit and the students that apply are eligible for the internship. Cultivate and manage relationships with current and new employers recruiting students from assigned department, in partnership with the assigned department and the UNT Career Center.
