Department Summary

The College of Music is the largest public university music program in the United States and one of the most globally respected. We offer fully accredited degrees from the bachelor to doctoral levels and are home to the world’s first jazz studies degree program. Position Overview

The Department of College of Music seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Assistant Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

The anticipated need is to provide support at an adjunct assistant level in Instrumental Studies. You will assist the instructor of record assigned to a specific course for duties such as but not limited to grading and tutoring. All instruction will take place on the main UNT campus in Denton.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in music or a closely related field and at least three years of professional experience. Prior college-level teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal degree in music or a closely related field. Experience teaching and/or working in higher education with reference to the standards of the UNT College of Music.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, waxes, and buffs floors, hallways, and stairways and cleans and vacuums, carpets and rugs. Cleans and dusts furniture, walls, ceilings, windows, windowsills, woodwork, and other building surfaces. Cleans and sanitizes rest rooms, baths, commodes, urinals, lavatories, drinking fountains, and other fixtures. Picks up and removes trash and other waste from building and cleans waste receptacles and transports recyclable materials to drop off point on a scheduled basis. Unlocks building doors as required for building functions and programs. Moves furniture for cleaning purposes. Observes safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
