Department Summary

The Department of Technical Communication emphasizes evidence-based approaches to preparing students with the technical communication skills required in modern workplaces: writing, designing, and coding.

We offer graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificates. Courses are taught by an internationally recognized faculty whose research and experience are at the forefront of the field. We also facilitate connections among faculty, students, and practitioners through client-sponsored course projects, internships, regular networking events, and
our industry-led Advisory Board.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

Adjunct Assistants support COURSERA courses and a range of undergraduate TECM courses. Please see the UNT catalog.

This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Adjunct candidates must have earned an M.A. or Ph.D. from an accredited university.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with graduate-level coursework in professional and technical communication, prior experience teaching technical communication, and industry experience.

Custodial Services Assistant Supervisor

This position is responsible for oversight of a midsized team of employees, engaged in university facility services, performed in multiple locations. Responsible for inventory, equipment, scheduling, training, and daily operations. Assists with scheduling for cleaning and for the opening and closing of assigned buildings as needed; monitors inventory and assures that adequate equipment and supplies are on hand. Travels between work sites by use of University vehicle for necessary calls. Serves as a Campus Security Authority for Clery and a Responsible Employee under Title IX.

SOS/CARE Coordinator

The position reports to the Director, Intervention Services in the Dean of Students Office, within the Division of Student Affairs. This position coordinates the Universities process for responding to students and student behavior that is identified as a potential risk, either to themselves and/or to others or the community. This individual serves as an advocate for students who may need assistance in resolving complex personal and academic matters.

Enrollment Services Specialist

This position is part of the Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health Fort Worth) and the Department of Testing and Evaluation Services. This position supports UNT Health students and academic departments with a wide variety of student assessment (examination/testing) activities including creating and administering assessments. This position fosters student success by ensuring student knowledge is effectively measured and academic curricular goals are achieved.
