Department Summary
The School of Human Services at UNT Dallas offers three undergraduate degree programs. The Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Management and Leadership (HSML) Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS) prepares students for work in the social service sector. We offer both professional and academic certificates
Position Overview
Qualified individuals are being sought to establish a pool of readily available talented persons from which these vacancies are filled as they occur. The adjunct instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching and student success.
UNT Dallas is hiring for the following positions to begin, Fall 2026 semester.
- Human Services Management and Leadership
- Gerontology
- Alternative Dispute Resolution
- Substance Abuse Treatment
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching area including, Social Work, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling, Nonprofit Management, Mediation, Counseling Education, Public Administration, or related educational programs.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
- State certification or licensing in the subject matter where required.
- Experience in online/hybrid instruction.
- Proven teaching excellence in undergraduate instruction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of human services management principles, practices, and ethical standards.
- Understanding of leadership theories and their application in human services settings.
- Familiarity with diverse populations and culturally responsive teaching methods.
- Knowledge of current trends and issues in the human services field.
- Understanding of CSHSE (Council on Standards for Human Services Education) standards.
Skills:
- Strong instructional design and course development skills.
- Effective use of learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
- Ability to facilitate engaging online, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor diverse student populations.
- Proficient use of educational technology and digital learning tools.
Abilities:
- Ability to create inclusive and supportive learning environments.
- Ability to assess student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
- Ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet academic demands.
- Ability to integrate real-world human services experience into classroom instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD. In Social Work, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Nonprofit Management, or related educational program.
- Terminal degree in the specific discipline or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses.
- Significant pedagogical knowledge and understanding in course development desirable.
- Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff, and faculty.
- Knowledge of Counsel on Standards for Human Services Education (CSHSE).
- Bilingual skills a plus.
