Department Summary
The Department of Merchandising & Digital Retailing is home to the largest Fashion Merchandising program in the nation, the only Digital Retailing B.S. and, as of February 2018, the first consumer experience management degree. It develops talents for careers in the trend-driven, global retail marketplace.
Position Overview
The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in one or more of the following subject areas:
• Buying
• Excel
• Trend analysis and forecasting
• Consumer behavior
• Global sourcing
• Styling
Examples of courses that may be available: 1) Profit-centered merchandising (Excel), 2) E-commerce platforms, 3) digital channels, 4) visual merchandising and promotion, 5) digital retail analytics, 6) consumer analytics and visualization, 7) trend analysis and forecasting, 8) consumer behavior, 9) global sourcing, 10) sustainable merchandising, 11) aesthetics and the environment, 12) brand development 13) social psychology of dress, 14) historic costume.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Teach assigned undergraduate or graduate courses using effective teaching methodologies that engage students in active learning.
2. Foster a supportive learning environment, providing students with constructive feedback and guidance on course content.
3. Monitor student progress through assignments, exams, and projects, ensuring fair and timely grading.
4. Provide availability outside of class to support student learning and professional development by maintaining office hours.
5. Adhere to institutional policies, academic integrity guidelines, and confidentiality requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates should have expertise in one or more of the listed subject areas, along with relevant academic and/or industry experience.
Master's degree in merchandising or closely aligned field with graduate work or industry expertise in course content.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree required in retail/merchandising
Industry experience.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
