The Department of Counseling and Higher Education promotes human development through education, research, and service that advance the professions of, and scholarship in, counseling and higher education.

Position Overview

The Department of Counseling & Higher Education seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. The specific courses involved may vary from semester.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in counseling or related field. Teaching experience in counseling or counselor education program. Teaching experience in counseling.

MASTER level CACREP core classes or electives - must hold a PhD

UNDERGRADUATE level - must hold a Master's degree. Counseling Program MASTER level CACREP core classes or electives and/or undergrad counseling associate studies minor program classes.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in counseling from a CACREP accredited program; TX Licensed Professional Counselor and/or certified School counselor, TX LPT-Supervisor.

Academic Advisor

This position is responsible for advising students on degree/program requirements and course scheduling. Creates and updates degree audits, processes graduation applications, and communicates with students on a regular basis via email and text. Responsible for assisting in training and mentoring other advisors, participating in outreach/recruitment activities, managing special projects and/or serving as a subject matter expert on specialized majors and determining how transfer credits apply toward degree requirements.

Research Assistant, UNT Bioanalysis Center

The Bioanalysis Center Research Assistant supports research operations and purchasing and conducts various Human Subjects support operations and Scheduling. This individual will also support data collection, sample processing, basic analysis, and equipment maintenance. This is a one-year position with the potential to be extended based on funding.

Senior Lecturer: Special Education

The Department invites applications for an appointment at the Senior Lecturer rank to begin Fall 2027. The position is for an applicant with expertise in Special Education. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department by supporting the special education program through teaching, collaboration, and mentoring of students.
