Department Summary

The Department of Public Administration is an interdisciplinary department that houses a Ph.D. in Public Administration, Master’s degrees in Public Administration, and Bachelor’s degrees in Public Administration. We offer a dynamic blend of theory and practice that prepares our students for impactful careers in public service.

Graduate students have the opportunity to pursue a Master of Public Administration (MPA), respected nationally for its excellence—ranked #6 in Homeland Security and Emergency Management and #10 in Local Government Management by U.S. News and World Report. For those aiming to delve deeper into research and leadership, our Ph.D. program in Public Administration and Management also offers a nationally ranked, robust pathway.

Undergraduates can choose from degrees in Urban Policy and Planning (UPOP) or Nonprofit Leadership Studies (NPLS), with additional minors and certificate programs in volunteer management and conflict resolution. In addition, our in-house internship coordinator is dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between academic study and professional success.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSls and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations),

Position Overview

The Department of Public Administration seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester, and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

Courses may include any courses in our undergraduate and MPA programs.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in public administration or related field of study, or a master's degree in public administration with a strong record of professional work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned terminal degree (MPA or closely related field)
Previous teaching experience at the college or university level, including online instruction.
Experience using instructional technologies and learning management systems (LMS) to support teaching and learning.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Assistant Professor - Office of Rural Medical Education

The Family Medicine Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking a part time Assistant/Associate Professor faculty member in the Office of Rural Medical Education (ORME) to teach and mentor Doctor of Osteopathy medical students for the Rural Osteopathic Medical Education (ROME) programs. Financial Aid Administrator

The Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Administrator to join our Scholarship Management System Team. This position will assist with the maintenance and development of UNT’s scholarship management system and related scholarship processing and customer service duties. This position provides support to the Assistant Director by coordinating activities related to all projects. The position’s main duties are to enhance department and organization processes by exploring opportunities and ensuring the continuity and efficiency of each project from start to finish through clear communication to all parties involved. The Financial Aid Administrator handles multiple projects within a fast-paced environment and is open to constant changes and challenges. Financial Aid Administrator

This position is responsible for managing a student financial aid caseload, processing of aid adjustments, assisting with officewide quality controls, and counseling students regarding financial aid to include eligibility requirements, available financial aid options, and the requirements for the renewal and retention of aid programs. Position serves as main point of contact for internal inquiries regarding a students financial aid status and for ensuring that student inquiries have been resolved. Serves as backup to the customer service team. This position must possess a deep understanding of federal, state, and institutional financial aid and scholarship policies in order to effectively counsel students and assist with the accurate and timely processing of their financial aid.
