The College of Information (COI) is home to the Departments of Information Science, Learning Technologies, and Linguistics, which have the collective mission to generate, integrate, and disseminate knowledge in a learner-centered environment.
The mission of the Department of Learning Technologies is to enhance learning and performance through innovative research, teaching, and service focused on, but not limited to: learning technology, information, language, and computing technologies to advance human performance, training, learning, and cognitive development.
Position Overview
The employee serves the department, demonstrating a customer service philosophy while interacting with students, staff, faculty and other internal and external people, and works towards ensuring culture of service. Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to processing and tracking various HR and payroll transactions, including the processing of new hire paperwork and I9 verification, internal payroll auditing, and student financial aid and other grants and awards. Responsibilities also include creating course schedules, assisting with faculty assignments, and providing website maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of UNT systems, including Cognos and EIS.
Proficiency in MS Excel.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Assists in all the paperwork related to departmental hiring process which includes student assistants, visiting scholars, staff and adjunct faculty. Completes job posting related tasks for adjunct and student positions in the department. Responds to student queries regarding employment opportunities in the department. Assists new employees in onboarding procedure, including I9 verification, and issuance of graduate student employment verification. Actively monitors class enrollment status and notifies adjuncts and teaching fellows regarding changes on hiring and payment, as needed. - (Essential)
- Oversees and conducts all department finance matters, including timely and accurate account revenue and expenditure transactions, payroll monitoring, and reporting any discrepancies to the Department Chair. Works closely with the College budget officer and external departments on matters related to the department budget and personnel. Manages, processes, and tracks/reconciles day-to-day payment authorizations, contracts, and requisitions, including Pcard purchases. Oversees accurate and timely completion of purchase requests and travel authorizations and reimbursements. - (Essential)
- Manage all aspects of course scheduling for Department including addition and cancellation of courses, filing related documents with the registrar and monitor enrollment in classes. Coordinate course scheduling related tasks with faculty, COI advising staff and the Registrar’s Office. Work with the department chair with regard to adjunct assignments including, if necessary, creating new classes or removing classes that do not make. Assists Department Chair and Program Directors with catalog updates and Curriculog entries. Create and update course rotation database and website listing. - (Essential)
- Coordinates evaluation and processing of Tuition Benefit Program for graduate students and coordinates graduate assistant assignments. Including being liaison with TGS, managing award data/spreadsheet, ensuring financial agreements are signed and awards have been disbursed.
- Collects and inputs data for institutional effectiveness and SACS accreditation reporting and works with department chair to ensure the UNT catalog is updated and accurate. Facilitate data collection for data science program assessment. Generates data reports on admissions and student progress, etc. as requested, for the programs. Collect and keep the records of industrial connections for student’s internship and extracurricular activities. Assist department HR liaison collect evaluations for data science student employees.
