Department Summary

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy (UNT-SCP) will contribute to the development of the educational, research, and service programs of the Department. The faculty will report to the Chair of the Department. The faculty of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences will provide expertise toward the basic sciences side of the pharmaceutical sciences such as pharmaceutical discovery, formulation, and delivery.

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the UNT System College of Pharmacy is located at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth. Ranked among the top 50 medical schools for seven consecutive years, UNTHSC is a 33-acre graduate school located in the city’s Cultural District with a local economic impact of $500 million annually. The UNT System College of Pharmacy is the first pharmacy school in Texas located on an academic health science center campus.

Position Overview

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the System College of Pharmacy (SCP) of UNT Health Fort Worth is seeking to hire a dynamic, innovative Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track) of Pharmaceutical Sciences with a background in Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, or Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics. The successful applicant will report to the Chair of the Department and will contribute to the development of the educational, research, and service programs of the College of Pharmacy. The successful applicant will provide expertise in teaching the foundational science aspects of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum in areas such as toxicology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and drug metabolism/pharmacokinetics. The successful applicant will also conduct extramurally funded research and provide instruction and training to students and trainees through teaching in graduate educational programs and mentoring in research. Competitive lab start-up funding is available, and the faculty member will have access to outstanding departmental and institutional core facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

A PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Track record of securing extramural funding from agencies such as the NIH or NSF, with experience managing research budgets.
High-impact publications in peer-reviewed research journals, demonstrating contributions to advancing therapeutic strategies.
Capacity to lead an independent research program while mentoring graduate.
Skill in designing courses that integrate research insights, case studies, and clinical applications.
Ability to create evaluations that measure theoretical knowledge, experimental skills, and critical thinking.

Preferred Qualifications

A track record of scholarly excellence as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or funding awards in the field of Toxicology, Pharmacology, or Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics.
Teaching experience in a graduate or professional program.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Contribute to a culture of scholarly excellence within the Department through research that ensures that the faculty member remains on the cutting edge of their chosen areas of research and scholarly activity relevant to the future of pharmacy.
Implement and improve the Doctor of Pharmacy, the Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development, and the PhD in pharmaceutical sciences curriculums as they relate to the basic pharmaceutical sciences components of professional pharmacy and research education.
Contribute to service efforts that enhance the quality of pharmacy and graduate education and research in Texas and nationwide.

Director, Data Management & Business Intelligence

This technical leadership position directs DAIR data management, data quality, master data management, institutional definitions and data stewardship. The Director oversees analytical data modelling, integration, validation, and business intelligence products that make university information reliable, accessible and usable. The role leads development of dashboards and data visualizations for faculty, institutional reporting and benchmarking, and guides DAIR requirements and quality assurance during modernization of SAS-based analytics to Microsoft Fabric or other approved tools. The Director supervises assigned staff, sets operational priorities, resolves data issues with institutional partners, and contributes to DAIR strategic planning and delivery. Training and user enablement support adoption of these products but are not the primary purpose of the position.

Proposal Manager

The Proposal Manager oversees the full life-cycle of proposal development for the Advanced Environmental Research Institute (AERI), within the Division of Research & Innovation. The Proposal Manager manages proposal development (from the pre-proposal planning phase, through to the final proposal ready for submission) and other related support processes to ensure that AERI submits compelling and on-time proposals that meet requirements for solicitations of varying size and complexity, ranging from short-term task orders to large, multi-million dollar research projects. This position supports interdisciplinary research among the Institute through familiarity with the range of scholarship represented within its membership, and then identifies and connects them with correlating external research funding opportunities to pursue, including federal grants, local foundations, and industry partnerships. Other position duties include: planning, scheduling, and management of competitive proposals; serving as proposal writer, reviewer, and editor as required; and serving as point of contact for proposal activities and communications for the assigned area.
