About Us - Values Overview
Department Summary
The Department of Physiology and Anatomy is home to researchers with a wide variety of interests and approaches. The Department is truly integrative as all faculty are engaged in interdisciplinary studies that span molecular, cellular, systems and behavioral sciences, with strong traditions of excellence in the study of cardiovascular, renal and neural-humoral control systems. The research activities of many of our faculty and graduate students involve studies of normal physiology such as exercise and travel to altitude as well as pathophysiological states such as heart failure, hypertension, cardiopulmonary bypass surgery, diabetes, obesity and sleep apnea.
Position Overview
The Department of Physiology and Anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department is home to 23 full-time faculty and fosters an integrative, interdisciplinary research environment spanning molecular, cellular, and systems physiology. The Department has longstanding strengths in cardiovascular, renal, and neurohumoral physiology, with research approaches ranging from tissue culture and animal models to human investigations. Current areas of research focus address mechanistic questions in many pathophysiological states including hypertension, cardiopulmonary bypass surgery, diabetes, heart failure, renal disease, hemorrhage, obesity, and sleep apnea, and physiological responses to thermal stress, exercise, hypovolemia, pregnancy, and hypoxia.
