Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs, including the Center for Academic Performance (CAP). CAP is committed to partnering with all UNT Health students to help them meet their personal and academic goals by providing comprehensive academic support.

Position Overview

Hourly employees in this position support current UNT Health students through services including one-on-one, small group, drop-in, and large group tutoring. Center for Academic Performance tutors provide tutoring in-person and/or virtually. This position requires use of multiple online platforms and regular email monitoring. Employees are responsible for timely communication, session documentation, and adherence to CAP policies.

This position requires the employee to reside and perform all work within the State of Texas for the duration of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Successfully *graduated from a program at UNT Health (*degree must be verified within 14 days of the employee's start date).
Graduated with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher from UNT Health.
In good academic standing during time at UNT Health (no instances of academic probation; or conduct sanctions).
Compliant with all assigned institutional training in Bridge (no overdue items).

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a tutor, TA, supplemental instructor, or in another educational position is a plus.
CBTS Graduates: Preference given to applicants taking a gap year.

Job Duties

Monitor and respond to requests for tutoring.
Host tutoring sessions in-person and/or virtually in one or more of the following formats: one-on-one, small group, drop-in, large group tutorial (LGT).
Document tutoring activities.

Physical Requirements

Communicating with others to exchange information.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

Environmental Hazards

No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Work Schedule

Flexible schedule (self-determined) - Up to 19 hours per week - Hours vary based on student needs; hours not guaranteed - Must submit at least 1 hour of work every 6 months to remain employed

Student Services Coordinator

For this position, the Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator (Career Advisor) to join the College of Science team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students, by working with students, faculty and staff in the College of Science. Individual advising and group workshops. Partnering with academic advisors and counselors in the college to support internship goals for their assigned department, working with the Career Center internship specialist to assist with ensuring that available internships meet all departmental requirements for credit and the students that apply are eligible for the internship. Cultivate and manage relationships with current and new employers recruiting students from assigned department, in partnership with the assigned department and the UNT Career Center.
