The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position Overview
The Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Student Life to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, serving as the point of contact for the external community regarding Health Science Center student-related programs and events; meeting with students, faculty and staff, families, and others to disseminate information and resolve concerns; serving on university committees as appropriate; and representing the university through professional organizations and events, as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Working knowledge of large scale event planning
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Masters degree and five years of experience in a related field.
- Experience in large scale event planning.
- Previous experience managing budgets and resources in higher education.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in computer technologies utilized in higher education institutions.
- Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
- Must be able to demonstrate professional communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of student development theory and practice in higher education.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for all aspects of managing Engage/Anthology software partnership, including annual contract renewal, RSO memberships, rosters, creation of new portals, and posting of campus-wide announcements.
- Oversee student leader and advisor annual training and monthly refresher training.
- Develop, review, update, and disseminate RSO Handbook and Procedures.
- Assist Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and the Student Government Associations (SGAs) by providing resources, and guidance on institutional policies and requirements.
- Administer training and coordinate partnerships for facilitation of risk management, hazing prevention, alcohol and drug use prevention, Title IX, Clery Act, and other appropriate topics.
- Provide leadership and/or supervision of staff, graduate assistants, and student workers.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events.
