Position Overview
The University of North Texas Health (UNTH) seeks an innovative and collaborative leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Public Health and Health Administration within the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM). The Department includes graduate programs in Public Health and Health Administration and is responsible for advancing excellence in education, scholarship, service, and community engagement.
The Chair will provide strategic leadership for a newly organized department created through institutional restructuring and will play a key role in integrating public health principles throughout TCOM's educational, research, and clinical missions. The successful candidate will foster collaboration among faculty, staff, students, and institutional partners while supporting interdisciplinary initiatives across osteopathic medicine, physician assistant studies, public health, health administration, and related health professions program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, EdD, DHA, or equivalent) in public health, health administration, healthcare management, epidemiology, health policy, health services research, or a related discipline.
- Record of scholarly achievement appropriate for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor.
- Experience leading CEPH-accredited public health and/or CAHME accredited health administration programs.
- Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience leading CEPH-accredited public health and/or CAHME accredited health administration programs.
- Experience leading organizational change, departmental integration, or academic restructuring.
- Demonstrated success building interdisciplinary collaborations across health professions education.
- Experience with accreditation, assessment, and continuous quality improvement.
- Experience securing grants, contracts, or strategic partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Dual professional preparation that includes a public health degree and a clinical doctorate (MD or DO).
- Demonstrated experience integrating public health, population health, preventive medicine, and health systems science into medical education.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with physician assistant, medical, and other academic health professions programs.
Job Duties
- Provide visionary leadership for the Department of Public Health and Health Administration.
- Lead the continued integration and development of the department within TCOM.
- Develop and implement strategic goals aligned with TCOM and UNTH priorities.
- Manage departmental operations, budgets, personnel, and resources.
- Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Ensure quality and continuous improvement of all academic programs.
- Provide strategic oversight of curricular content.
- Advance interprofessional education within TCOM (DO, PA, and Public Health) and with other UNTH programs.
- Lead accreditation, assessment, and quality improvement efforts.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff.
- Foster scholarly activity, research collaboration, and community engagement.
- Strengthen partnerships with healthcare systems, public health agencies, and community organizations.

Work Schedule
Full-time, exempt position. Work schedule is generally Monday through Friday; however, evenings, intermittent weekends, and travel may be required to meet departmental, institutional, clinical, and educational responsibilities.
