Department Summary

The Counseling Program is housed in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education, and offers an undergraduate minor in counseling, and master's and doctoral degrees in counseling. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has conferred accreditation on the following tracks in the counseling program at UNT: clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and the PhD in counseling. The UNT Counseling Program is consistently ranked as one of the top counseling programs in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report, Best-Education-Schools.com, and GraduatePrograms.com. The UNT Counseling Program has been recognized with the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision's Outstanding Program Award.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The Counseling Program at UNT seeks two Clinical Assistant Professors with a demonstrated record of strength in counseling, clinical supervision, leadership, and teaching to support the program’s professional and academic initiatives. These positions will contribute to the program, college, and university’s commitment to maintain excellence at the national level. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, professional faculty appointment. Part-time summer teaching is contingent upon student demand and funding.

Primary responsibilities include:
1) providing clinical supervision to master’s and doctoral level students;
2) advising/mentoring students;
3) serving on dissertation committees;
4) working with faculty members in the Counseling Program and with those centers, institutes, and clinics affiliated with the Program to maintain and enhance the Program's national stature;
5) participating actively on university committees and in professional counseling organizations;
6) teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program by start of employment; demonstrate a record of effective teaching, supervision, and professional activity; and must demonstrate strength and flexibility to teach across the CACREP core, including both clinical and didactic courses.

Preferred Qualifications

Designation as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.

Hold a current Certified School Counselor credential in the state of Texas.

Office Support Assistant (Night Desk Clerk)

The Office Support Assistant serves the full time staff member at the front desk overnight, providing a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for residents of the community. This position reports crisis and maintenance issues to on-call staff while providing customer support and other administrative follow-up.

Custodian

This position’s purpose is to serve as a custodian for the Department of Housing and Residence Life. This is an essential position, maintaining essential operations during emergencies and university closures. The custodian will maintain a standard of cleanliness, sanitation, safety and standard of excellence in all assigned buildings (Residence Halls, Dining Areas, and Other Buildings).

Associate Registrar

This position is responsible for strategic oversight of Certifications and Degree Conferral, including planning, organizing, and ensuring continuity and continuous improvement of processes, systems, and student services including the maintenance and coordination of student, academic and curricular records to support enrollment and retention. Involved in new initiatives with colleagues across campus related to enrollment and retention to ensure successful implementation. Oversees operations of multiple functional areas and works directly with staff for ongoing professional development and the implementation of new initiatives, and/or updated systems, policies, and processes. Advises students, parents, faculty and staff about departmental and university regulations. Requires discernment to resolve complex escalations and implement proactive solutions. This position manages teams within the Office of the Registrar, collaborates across the division, and with faculty and staff throughout the University. Works to ensure the accuracy and integrity of academic and student data, and compliance with a range of institutional, state, and federal regulations. Responsible for collaboration across teams to achieve a collective outcome that optimizes results and impact that directly affects enrollment and retention.

Custodial Services Supervisor

This is an essential position, who's primary purpose is to provide direct supervision of the day-to-day operations of custodial staff within the residence halls, residential dining areas, and assigned auxiliary buildings. Supervisory responsibilities include: approving leave, managing time and attendance. Additionally, individuals will provide training, instruction, and coaching. Individuals will apply progressive discipline to subordinate staff as needed, in accordance with university, system, state and federal guidelines. Individuals will manage work teams of custodians to achieve cleaning goals, including managing interpersonal conflicts and resolving disputes. Individuals will regularly inspect assigned facilities and equipment to ensure that cleaning standards are maintained and equipment is functioning appropriately. Individuals will assist in the hiring and training of team members. Individuals will participate in activities and functions as directed by the leadership of the department.
