Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for its Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor pool for the 2026-2027 academic year. Position Overview

The successful candidate will be expected to develop curriculum and provide instruction in a range of classes in Criminal Justice and Justice and Social Policy. Other duties may include coordination with the department Program Coordinator, and other faculty as needed. Adjunct faculty plan courses and implement and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Adjunct faculty undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, or in an equivalent discipline, with at least 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice and outstanding experience in teaching core-curriculum Criminal Justice courses.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong teaching skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Criminal Justice or JD with significant experience in higher education.
  • Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
  • Specialized work-related or teaching experience that directly relates to the course being taught.
  • Experience in online course development and teaching.
  • Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.

  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
  • Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Community Director - Live in position
This person is responsible for all administrative functions of the residential community, serving as the live-in leader of approximately 300-600 residents. Responsibilities include: supervision of full time and student staff; managing implementation of the residential curriculum; facility and occupancy management; and responding to crisis and concerns, including after normal business hours. Reporting to an Assistant Director for Residence Life, this person communicates about incidents occurring in the community, adjudicates conduct and community standard cases, and establishes an environment that promotes collaboration, learning, and a sense of belonging through individual and group interactions.
