Department Summary

Considered one of the leading visual arts and design schools in the nation, UNT’s College of Visual Arts and Design is home to more than 2,550 undergraduate and graduate students in NASAD and CIDA accredited programs including the BA, BFA, MA, and MFA in art education, art history, ceramics, communication design, drawing and painting, fashion design, interaction design, interdisciplinary art and design studies, interior design, metalsmithing and jewelry, new media art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and user-experience design, with certification offered in art museum education, and a Ph.D. offered in art education. It includes the Department of Art Education, Department of Art History, Department of Design, Foundations Program, Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies Program, and Department of Studio Art.

College faculty enjoy active collaborations with specialized subject matter librarians, opportunities for teaching and research through UNT library special collections, and partnerships with the university’s Center for Learning, Experimentation, Application, and Research.

Offering instruction at the main Denton campus, as well as other UNT locations, the College of Visual Arts and Design also comprises the CVAD Galleries, Texas Fashion Collection, Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts and Design, Gough Design Research Space, and textile and digital fabrication lab facilities that support student work, faculty research, as well as college, university, and broader constituents in recently built and renovated, state-of-the-art facilities.

Position Overview

The Interdisciplinary Art & Design Studies Program in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas seeks a qualified individual for a continuing Lecturer position. The optimal candidate is someone well-versed in digital technologies used in art and design-related fields, and an openness to working with students whose interests span a broad array of art and design professions. The standard teaching load is a 4:4 and includes teaching skills such as digital tools and communications, art and business, and interdisciplinary topics in art and design.

Minimum Qualifications

• Terminal degree (i.e., MFA or PhD in a related field).
• Evidence of university-level teaching experience.
• Engagement in interdisciplinary projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in digital communications and design management.
• Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite software, as well as other creative software such as Figma, Blender, etc.
• Ability to teach all level of undergraduate courses (upper-and lower-division).
• Continued professional development, research, or creative practice.
• Engagement with industry professionals and programs to enhance classroom experience.

Center for Academic Performance Alumni Tutor

Hourly employees in this position support current UNT Health students through services including one-on-one, small group, drop-in, and large group tutoring. Center for Academic Performance tutors provide tutoring in-person and/or virtually. This position requires use of multiple online platforms and regular email monitoring. Employees are responsible for timely communication, session documentation, and adherence to CAP policies. This position which requires the employee to reside and perform all work within the State of Texas for the duration of employment.

Administrative Assistant, Career Readiness Center - Hourly

The Assistant for the Career Readiness Center (Division of Student Affairs) will provide general office support for Career Readiness Center activities and functions, including: office management such as answering phone and e-mail inquiries, scheduling and approving student appointments, and assistance with departmental activities such as: social media management support, job fairs, job postings, workshops and special events, website maintenance, and other general office support functions.
