Department Summary

The UNT Division of Instrumental Studies is a epicenter for learning, featuring world-renowned individual instrumental instruction, collaborative opportunities, and professional mentorship. Offering performance degrees at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels in addition to a Graduate Artist Certificate, the Instrumental Studies division allows students to specialize in string, woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments.

With 40 full-time faculty representing soloists and renowned ensembles from across the globe, the UNT Division of Instrumental Studies boasts a vast array of opportunities for its students. Along with their traditional classical studies, students can explore specialties such as early music, chamber music, and more. Student resources include one of the largest music libraries in the nation, access to recording services, a plethora of study-abroad partnerships, and connection to a global Alumni network.

Position Overview

The music summer camp intern provides additional instructional support and supervision for minor summer campers during College of Music summer programs. Duties include escorting campers between events, supervising students overnight in the dorms, and/or providing small group instruction.

We are currently seeking interns to support the UNT Marching Percussion Camp and the American Percussion Seminar, occurring between May 31, 2026-June 5, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, some collegiate-level percussion experience, faculty recommendation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of percussion instruments, percussion performance practices, musical terminology, and ensemble rehearsal procedures

Preferred Qualifications

 

Required License/Registration/Certifications

 

Job Duties

  • Providing small group and individual percussion instructional support 
  • Escorting students between activities, to meals, and to and from the dorms 
  • Providing dorm supervision 

Physical Requirements

Communicating with others to exchange information.
Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Environmental Hazards

Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Elevated temperatures.
Noisy environments.

Work Schedule

May 31, 2026-June 5, 2026 9 am-5pm camp daytime activities, some evening and weekend hours may be required
