Department Summary

The School of Merchandising & Hospitality Management (SMHM), housed within the G. Brint Ryan College of Business, is centered on the world’s largest consumer-focused industries—Hospitality and Retail. Our nationally ranked and accredited programs offer opportunities for students to work with world-class research faculty as well as meet industry professionals who serve as guest lecturers, project mentors, and internship supervisors. These constituents play a key role in strengthening our ability to provide extraordinary experiences for our students.

Position Overview

The person in this position is responsible for performing public relations functions as well as delivering great customer service. The customers in this unit are the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management Director, Staff, Chairs, Faculty and External constituencies including internal and external guests that enter the SMHM Director's suite. It is necessary for the person in this position to be flexible in multitasking and changing from task to another quickly. Interruptions of scheduled work may occur; thus, flexibility is necessary to accomplish the work in a timely manner. The person in this position must be able to organize work based on priorities established by the School Director.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and three years of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Job Duties

  • Office Protocol: 1. Maintain professional appearance and conduct. 2. Uphold appropriate work habits and behaviors. 3. Maintain appropriate customer service. 4. Efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • Prepares conference rooms for scheduled meetings and ensures coffee service as appropriate, especially with guests. Schedules conference rooms on electronic calendars.
  • Develop and implement plan for maintaining and destroying state files in work area.
  • Assist faculty with course and lab related purchases that are charged to course fees. This includes, but is not limited to, supplies, subscriptions, and course specific software.
  • Coordinate textbook orders with the campus bookstore and request desk copies for faculty to consider for classes.
  • Assist with asset management.
  • Responsible for keeping the Director's suite organized and stocking the office supply closet.
  • Assist Director's office with posting of processing of ePars for hourly student assistants - UNT CoLab AND IT.
  • Prepare and publish faculty schedule with office hours and phone list for each semester.
  • Monitor main office copy machine maintenance, and coordinates repairs.
  • Prepare purchase orders and approve invoices for equipment and supplies; and coordinates receipt of shipping.
  • Assist faculty and staff with coordination of special events.
  • May assist with the collection of data and the preparation of materials for meetings and conferences and provide assistance to the completion of reports.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Reynolds Lab at UNT Health is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to study the genomics of aging and Alzheimer's disease. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead work on designing epigenetic clocks and methylation risk scores across diverse populations, perform EWAS to identify methylation signatures of Alzheimer’s risk, and contribute to multi-omic analyses aimed at understanding molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration as part of a collaborative team. Plumbing Foreman

The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is seeking to hire a plumbing foreman to join our team.
