UNT Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the UNT Health campus in Fort Worth. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long-term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in-home care. HSC Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating health care students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.
Position Overview
UNT Health is seeking to hire a Patient Access Specialist to join our team. The Patient Access Specialist will perform clerical duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Scheduling appointments. Billing patients. Compiling and recording medical charts, reports, Answering patient phone calls and correspondence.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Duties
- Patient Experience & Digital Intake: Greet patients warmly (in-person and via digital check-in systems), facilitate a check-in/check-out process, and guide patients through digital registration and intake documentation.
- EMR & Schedule Management: Coordinate, schedule, and confirm patient appointments and consultations using the EMR and practice platforms. Optimize provider schedules to minimize gaps and manage real-time updates or cancellations.
- Insurance Verification & Digital Eligibility: Collect and verify up-to-date demographic and insurance information. Utilize digital clearance tools to verify eligibility, obtain necessary pre-authorizations, and patient co-pays.
- Digital Communications & Inbound Routing: Manage inbound communications via multi-line phone systems, secure patient portals, and other internal office communication. Route clinical messages, lab results, and patient inquiries accurately to the appropriate team members.
- Administrative Workflows: Maintain patient records securely in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Proactively prep upcoming patient schedules and charts to ensure the clinic is fully prepared for daily operations.
- Assist in training new front desk staff. Audit clinic prep in both Phreesia and NextGen. Reviewclinic schedules for accuracy.
- Acts as back up for the Patient Access Lead, completing clinic batches and daily deposits.
