Department Summary

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is dedicated to providing a high-quality educational experience through excellence and innovation in teaching, research, and scholarly activity. Our mission is to prepare students to address the evolving scientific and engineering challenges of Texas and the nation. We achieve this through a balanced curriculum that integrates rigorous coursework, hands-on laboratory training, and research opportunities encompassing both fundamental materials science and practical engineering applications. This comprehensive approach equips students with the knowledge, technical skills, and research experience needed to succeed in academia, industry, and public service.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview

This position is required to work closely with UNT faculty colleagues, and researchers at sponsoring agencies on high performance metallic materials. The position would require strong background in microstructure, mechanical properties, understanding of advanced solid state processing of metallic materials. Experience with solid state additive manufacturing of aluminum alloys is essential.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Materials Science and Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

Detailed publications on solid state additive manufacturing of aluminum alloys and deformation mechanisms. Excellent skills in relating microstructure to mechanical properties.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties

Conduct experiments, gather data, document research notes, code and analyze data, interpret data.
Keep up with historical and latest research data and publications.
Prepare manuscripts for publications in a timely manner and talks and posters for presentation at group meetings and conferences. Assist with reporting of research progress to funding agencies.
Help in preparing reviews and research proposal writing.
Stay up to date with all trainings, and federal, state, university and department requirements.

The Associate Director, One Stop Contact Center provides leadership for the daily operations of the UNT One Stop Contact Center and helps ensure students and families receive timely, accurate, and supportive service throughout their college journey. The position leads the Senior Coordinators who supervise Contact Center full-time and part-time team members and is responsible for staffing and workforce planning, service levels, queue management, employee performance and development, escalated student concerns, and the overall effectiveness of daily Contact Center operations. The Associate Director uses service trends and performance data to understand where students need support, identify opportunities to improve the experience, and work with One Stop leadership to put strategies, processes, outreach, and service improvements into practice. The position works closely with teams across UNT One Stop and our campus partners to help staff understand the services they support, solve complex situations, and connect students with the right solutions. At its core, this role is responsible for building a Contact Center team that owns the connection, owns the experience, and owns the work, while creating a supportive environment where staff can do their best work for students.

The academic advisor is responsible for advising and providing professional development, to students interested in health careers. Advises pre-health students on the courses necessary for entry into professional schools, the timeline for applying to such programs, and the characteristics of a competitive application.
