Department Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has a mission to provide a high quality education to our diverse student population through excellence and innovation in teaching and research in order to serve the scientific and engineering needs of the state of Texas and the nation. This will be achieved by a balance of formal course work, practical laboratory training, and research projects that encompass both the basic science and the applied aspects of mechanical engineering. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering degrees.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview
The position will support a federally sponsored fundamental science research project within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas. The research focuses on nanoscale heat transport, the optical and electronic properties of materials, and spacecraft thermal engineering. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to research activities, data analysis, experimental and computational investigations, scholarly publications, and other project related objectives in support of the department's research mission and sponsored goals.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and research experience in the fields that are related to the focus areas of the position. In addition, the candidate should have a proven track record of publications in relevant journals and conferences. Good communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include hands-on nano/microscale cleanroom fabrication and materials thin film deposition. Must demonstrate self-motivation and strong teamwork skills. Some travel is required to participate with collaborators’ facilities. The role will involve grant proposal development and assistance.
