Position Overview

This position is responsible for functioning as a team lead for the G. Brint Ryan College of Business for advising students and degree/program requirements. Responsible for implementing advising initiatives and protocols for targeted populations; performing quality checks and reviewing work of advisors; coordinating retention programs that focus on student academic success, managing and analyzing student academic information data and preparing reports; and making presentations to internal and external groups.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong presentation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Advanced academic advising expertise. Ability to integrate and analyze information and develop reports. Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications. Ability to effectively manage projects and work teams. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external groups in a variety of settings. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree.

Job Duties

  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of RCOB advising policies and procedures to ensure that they that promote student academic success and ensure outstanding advising experience for RCOB students 
  • Manage a team of academic advisors by setting individual and team performance goals, providing procedural guidance and training to team members, managing team performance, ensuring effective team communication and providing effective performance feedback to team members 
  • Serve as a lead for assigned advising areas or processes by leading continual process improvement efforts, providing procedural guidance and training to others 
  • Advise students individually and in group settings regarding degree requirements and University and College Policies 
  • Leverage data and information technology to help drive student enrollment, academic success, retention and degree attainment 
  • Work with student information systems to prepare and update degree audits, evaluate and apply transfer work in accordance with University and College policies, prepare and process degree plans and graduation applications 
  • Make presentations to students, faculty and other stakeholders about RCOB degrees and educational opportunities and UNT and RCOB advising policies and procedures 
  • Contribute to the overall organizational health and performance of the RCOB undergraduate programs through teamwork, knowledge sharing, professional development, and professional relationship building 
  • Demonstrate commitment and ability to support a varied group of individuals within the academic community

Work Study Student Assistant - Learning Commons

The Work Study Student Assistant serves as an important team member in the Learning Commons. He/she works under the supervision of the administrative staff and serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Work Study Student Assistant also performs some clerical work and assists the professional staff with various projects.

Project Controls Analyst

This professional position is part of a team responsible for managing the collection, modeling, and analysis of extensive data, as well as developing analysis and reporting capabilities. The Project Controls Analyst provides routine technical support in the day-to-day management of the construction project management system, which supports construction projects across all UNT System institutions. The position is responsible for maintaining and updating financial data within the system and providing accurate, timely information to support project management and reporting needs. The primary focus of this position is to provide routine technical support for the assigned area while ensuring project and financial information is accurately maintained. The Project Controls Analyst reports to the Project Controls Manager.

Business Intelligence Analyst

The Business Intelligence Analyst in the Office of University Assessment and Accreditation (UAA) works collaboratively with the campus community with two integrated functions: 1) enterprise dashboard development and data modeling, including the design, construction, and maintenance of reporting solutions, in collaboration with UAA team members, data owners, ITS Data Analytics, data governance stakeholders, and other internal stakeholders. 2) applied artificial intelligence for institutional analytics, including natural language processing of qualitative student and stakeholder feedback, automation of AI-assisted reporting workflows, and evaluation of emerging AI tools for extending the university's data and analytical capacity. This position is responsible for facilitating data accessibility, analyzing institutional cross-functional data and external benchmark and market data, and producing reports and visualizations to support compliance reporting, evidentiary data for assessment and accreditation purposes, strategic initiatives, ad hoc reports, and operational efficiencies. The BI Analyst develops reports and dashboards according to defined business specifications for publication to internal and public audiences, as appropriate. This position analyzes institutional data for patterns in the flow of students through the academic process and programs, as well as the resources that support student success. To maintain data integrity, accuracy, reproducibility, and usability, the BI Analyst documents data definitions, workflow processes, and standard operating procedures and utilizes various quality control methods spanning both traditional data pipelines and AI-generated outputs.
